Workshop and presenter information

Lohani Noor – Sex and relationships

A practical workshop on working with sex and relationships in therapy.

How do we as therapists treat sexual topics? Do we invite or avoid frank discussions?

This workshop covers general therapy skills theory and practice with a psychosexual lens, however the primary focus will be developing psychotherapeutic skills.

‘When was the last time you had an open and frank discussion about sexual pleasure, how it impacts your daily life, how you own it and wear it in/on your body. When was the last time, if ever that you said out loud… ‘I am a sexual being’ Join me in thinking about what it means to be just that.. a sexual being’.

Lohani is the Founding Director for ThIRST (The Institute for Relational and Sexual therapies). She is an experienced Psychotherapist and Psychosexual practitioner, accredited with COSRT and registered with UKCP. Lohani has a MSc in Psychosexual Therapies, a PGDip in Transactional Analysis and a PGDip in Urban Education, she also has a Cert Ed in Teaching post16 and is a qualified assessor.

Lohani has worked therapeutically with a wide range of clients in a wide range of settings including significant mental health, drug and alcohol dependent men and sex offenders. Lohani sits on the board of trustees for COSRT.

She is the author of Audible Classic: 12 Steps to Sexual Connection

More info about Lohani can be found within the thIRST website

Kim Harrison – Art in Nature

An experiential creative outdoor session combining nature-based mindfulness and art therapy activities. We will proceed whatever the weather, unless winds are above 30 mph, in which case we’ll do something similar but using guided visualization indoors.

Kim is a fully qualified, HCPC registered Art Psychotherapist, offering standard art therapy, or nature-based art therapy. These combine art therapy training with outdoor forest school and nature-based mindfulness.

She works with families, groups and individuals in a variety of settings online and outdoors from her practise in Thameside Greater Manchester.

Katye Coe Somatic Experiencing

This workshop will introduce, Somatic Experiencing (SE).

“The SE approach releases traumatic shock, which is key to transforming patterns that get stuck and impact people’s daily lives. It can be used to support the resolution of PTSD and developmental attachment trauma. It offers a framework to assess where a person is “stuck” in the fight, flight, or freeze responses and provides clinical tools to resolve these fixated physiological states.”

I intend to bring for this workshop, a series of practical exercises and time for reflection, that can help to ground participants in some experiences and possible applications of basic SE tools.

I have been a professional dance performer, lecturer and facilitator for more than 30 years and I qualified as an SE practitioner 3 years ago in order to bring my experience and somatically informed approach toward a deeper dialogue with clients. I practise in Hebden Bridge and Manchester, and continue to work as a dancer and a teacher as well as facilitating nature connection work through Kinship Workshop.
